That hot guy tied to Lissianna Argeneau's bed? He's not dessert—he's the main course! Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this sexy guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate. But there's another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sight of blood…an especially annoying quirk for a vampire. Of course it doesn't hurt that this man has a delicious-looking neck. What kind of cold-blooded vampire woman could resist a bite of that?
Gregory Hewitt recovers from the shock of waking up in a stranger's bedroom pretty quickly—once he sees a gorgeous woman about to treat him to a wild night of passion. But is it possible for the good doctor to find true love with a vampire vixen, or will he be just a good meal?
That's a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into…if he can just get Lissianna to bite. The only thing keeping her sane is her book club, a close-knit group of Charleston women united by their love of true crime. One evening after book club, Patricia is viciously attacked by an elderly neighbor, bringing the neighbor's handsome nephew, James Harris, into her life.
But when children on the other side of town go missing, their deaths written off by local police, Patricia has reason to believe James Harris is more of a Bundy than a Brad Pitt. Knowing that, he could never just walk away from her. But Pet could. She had no idea how wonderful life could be for them. Knowing Parker was nearby and that the pizza delivery would show up soon, Santo had deliberately kept her from touching him to keep them both from losing control.
That being the case, he had no doubt Pet could just walk away from him at this point. He needed to change that. Reviewed by the Book Review Crew. This time around, I liked that Lynsay Sands gives us a mortal that is already familiar with the Immortal world. Review by VampireBookClub. Is someone there sick or injured? Are they getting violent?
I think. He is. And I think he may be dangerous. And you think this cousin who is visiting him is sick and dangerous? Purdy called instead of you? I think he might be suffering from Renfield syndrome. You need to cut the nonsense and get off the phone. You can get in a lot of trouble for crank calling There are real people out there who need help and calls like this might prevent them getting through.
It was followed by a dial tone. It was an accident. I was shooting at the mutants and your big butt got in my way. I thought we were on the same side. Home invasion! Once there, she hesitated, though, and then cracked it open to listen. A frown claimed her lips when she heard the deep rumble of an unfamiliar male voice below and then silence.
The eight-year-old was busily shooting her video game character while she was distracted. We have a situation here. Everyone from neighbors to delivery guys have come in afraid something was wrong cause the door is open. When they do, she shrieks home invasion every time. She even yelled home invasion when Mr. How had he picked up an accent in two words? She gave her head a slight shake.
The kid was just. Super smart and different. When there was nothing but silence, she glanced to her phone and then hesitated. Petronella aka Pet grew up in China and was the step-daughter to an immortal. Pet's family was killed except for a sister and after the both moved to the US and were adopted. Pet is single and her nephew is the closest she has to a kid.
Santo is a civil engineer for his family's construction business and is also is in a band with his cousins. Santo is also an Immortal, which are humans from the city of Atlantis that have nanobots that give them traits that are similar to the vampires of legend, including their need for blood. Santo is in the US and is helping with a Rogue situation. When the story begins, Pet is staying at her sisters' place to watch her nephew, Parker, while his parents are out of town.
Pet and Parker quickly meet some new people staying on their street, Marguerite Argeneau, her husband and a few cousins and Santo is one of the cousins. Pet knows about immortals and her experiences haven't always been good so she freaks when she recognizes what Marguerite and her family are.
Marguerite realizes the issue due to her ability to read minds and reassures Pet that they're no bad immortals and are only there because they're hunting a rogue that they believe is in the area. Pet is comforted by Marguerite's reassurance and the family's actions in general but she's worried about the rogue nearby and her need to protect Parker.
Santos tries to get close to Pet but he's had a rough past and it's made him rather solitary and very laconic. His lack of communication skills cause issues with Pet though and Santos has to step out of his comfort zone to make any progress with Pet.
There is drama, part from the rogue issues and some from Pet's own issues combined with the interpersonal issues that arise as Santo attempts to court her. Thankfully, everything gets worked out and the story ends with Santo and Pet happily together and heading towards and HEA.
This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Pet pretty well. She was a good heroine but made some moves I thought were caused more by plot needs than anything. Santo was a good hero once he learned to talk, hehe. There were a few points in the story that didn't see completely wrapped up and that bothered me a bit but it wasn't anything too major. Overall, I enjoyed the story very much and liked the characters so I would recommend it and the series. The story has so many feelings.
The characters were written charm and real deep. Santo and Pet are absolutely perfect for each other. I have read every book in this series up to this one and many of her other series and so far she has never let me down and her ability to take me to New and wonderful worlds. Brian Pallino sounds like he's trying to be quiet while he reads. Marguerite has an Italian accent rather than British, but Pallino does a good job with the story in emotion and editing, as well as his Italian and Russian accents.
Sands does a good job giving Santo his story and introducing a possible future antagonist. Spoiler Alert: Sands has a small appearance of Dr. Dressler in this story, and all of the sudden this brilliant, mad, scientist isn't smart enough to have a plan other than running to his cousin's house.
Then he turns the dad without any information as to why. Where is the depth? I know she can do better than this. It just feels lazy. I love these books and have them all, I also have the audible options.
This one however was very strange. The story is great as are all books in the series, but I do wish those reading would take a brief time to check the background of the main characters. In this the Argeneau family seems to have turned into Cubans! They were not! The Notte family are Italian. I just found it really disconcerting that all the characters that I love had changed that much.
Having said that, the reader had a good voice nd read well, just in completely the wrong accents. The plot of the book was ok. It dragged a little in places. The characters were interesting enough. The narrator was good. Add to Cart failed. Please try again later. Add to Wish List failed. Remove from wishlist failed.
